Trellis Lowdown - Week of May 6th
Thrive Collective - School Murals
Saturday was an opportunity to work alongside Trinity Grace Park Slope's [and Thrive Collective resident] Sophia Reed along with Liberty Church Brooklyn and City Reach Bay Ridge on the mural coming to fruition at PS 104. School Murals is an initiative that provides the opportunity for churches and non-profits to partner with local schools and PTA's to put student artistic renderings onto a school wall. Peacefest and Fort Greene Heroes
This week provided the opportunity to hear Shawn Doyle's story, [find out more about him by clicking his picture above] the first of the Fort Greene Heroes being highlighted as part of the 26th annual Fort Greene Peacefest. The goal of this project is to celebrate the everyday heroes of Fort Greene, residents who have taken it upon themselves to organize for good in the neighborhood. This has been a beautiful collaboration between Jasmin Chang from Trinity Grace Park Slope and an amazing team from Liberty Church Brooklyn, lead by Darrell Cheng [who you'll hear a lot more about soon]. There will lots more to come about this event started by the incredible lady, Victoria Amoo who leads the Family Support and Resources Organization in Fort Greene.
Brooklyn Day of Prayer
May 5th was the National Day of Prayer and as part of the day, Borough President Eric Adams [pictured above] along with his Faith-Based and Clergy Initiatives Director, [and great friend and pastor, Gilford Monrose] organized the Brooklyn Day of Prayer. This event gathered hundreds of Christians from around the borough, along with some incredible faith leaders to pray with and for our city. It was an honor to lead one of the mountains of prayer on justice.
